Nolan Lee Jackson

Born: April 08, 1928
Died: October 27, 2010

Nolan Lee Jackson of Edmond, OK passed away October 27, 2010.

Nolan was born April 8, 1928 in Guthrie, OK to Allan Jackson and Lola Berg.

He proudly served in occupied Japan with the 8th Army in 1947 and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan. He was a pitcher on the Army baseball team while in Japan.

Nolan was a true lover of nature into his eighties. He loved hunting and fishing all his life and often trained hunting dogs. He was a regular visitor to Arcadia Lake where he would cook out, hit golf balls, and generally enjoy nature around the lake.

He was an avid golfer all his life. In 2008, he had a rare accomplishment in golf by shooting his age when he was 80 years old. He loved talking GOLF and giving helpful advice to young golfers. Nolan was a true gentleman both on and off the course.

Nolan never retired until his health failed. He spent 37 years employed by Furrow/Greenleaf Wholesale Flower Companies. Prior to working in the flower business, he was employed by Noel Datin clothing in Guthrie. He enjoyed working with his customers and friends at his job.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jeanne Jackson.

Nolan is survived by a brother Manuel and wife Ramona of Oklahoma City, OK; three daughters Jerri Hudson and husband Gary and Robin Whittington all of Edmond and Cheryl Sevier and husband Robert of Fort Worth, TX; two grandchildren Brad Jackson of Kansas City, MO and Lori Jackson of Fort Worth, TX; and two great-grandsons Caleb and Asher.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, P.O. Box 53465, Oklahoma City, OK 73152 due to his long love of wildlife and nature.

Viewing will be Friday, 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie. Nolan will be laid to rest in a graveside service at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. with Chaplain Gene Owen officiating.
