Funeral services for Larry L. Jackson of Edmond, Oklahoma will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 8, 2017 at South Pointe Baptist of Guthrie, Oklahoma with Pastor Robby Robbins officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie. Mr. Jackson was born on January 5th, 1949 to Robert Floyd Jackson and Elsie Etoile (Rogers) Jackson at Ransom, Kansas and passed away December 4, 2017 at the age of 68.
The Jacksons moved back home to Coal County Oklahoma in the mid nineteen fifties and bought an acreage at Lehigh, Oklahoma. Larry attended school at Coalgate Schools in Coalgate, Oklahoma. Larry married the love of his life November 2, 1969, Patricia Ann Barnett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.Larry and Patricia were blessed with three children, Robert Walin Jackson (deceased 1971), Larry Michael Jackson, and Ginger Alene Jackson. Larry believing in hard work instilled by his parents, went right to work for a trucking company and later started Jackson Trucking Company Inc. which he operated for more than 40 years. He finished college graduating from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1993 with a Bachelors of Science Degree with Technology Education, Industrial Arts Major. He then taught school at Putnam City North, Oklahoma City, and Edmond, Oklahoma. Due to illness for 5 years, he could no longer work.
Larry is preceded in death by both parents; one sister, Virginia Belle Richards; three brothers, Charles Edward Jackson, Greenwood (Dub) Jackson and wife, Sandy, Jack Roger Jackson; and one son, Larry Walin Jackson. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Jackson of 49 wonderful years; son, Larry Michael Jackson of Guthrie; daughter, Ginger Alene and husband, Charles Kevin Sloan of Oklahoma City; one brother, Randy Dale Jackson and wife, Donna of Minco, Oklahoma; one sister, Karen Sue Hatch and husband, Dennis of Oklahoma City; sisters-in-law, Vivian Jackson of Bixby, Oklahoma and Patricia A. Jackson of Minco; and one brother-in-law, Leroy Richards of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is also survived by granddaughters, Larryn Danielle Jenkins, Kali Ann Jenkins, Sophie Mei Sloan, and Kiley Sloan as well as great-granddaughters, Hudson and Harper Simco. He was blessed with several nephews, nieces, and numerous dear friends from one coast to another of the United States of America.
Larry loved the Lord. Living in Guthrie, from 1979 to 2006 and Edmond to the present, Larry and Pat attended South Pointe Baptist Church creating many dear friendships which some will serve as pallbearers: Paul Creed, Jeff Phillips, Mike Chapman, Bruce Kerr, Steve Sharp, and Frank Aufiero. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Pool, Dale Jackson, Dr. Wendell Richards, Kim Stout, Daryl Graves.In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the water4.org or water4, 2405 NW 10th St., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73107. Water4 is an organization that helps build water wells for African Tribes. Visitation will be held Friday, 9:00 A.M.
