Funeral services for Don Hopfer of Edmond will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, January 29, 2001 at Community Baptist Church under the direction of Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Summit View Cemetery. The casket will not be opened at any time.
Don spent 56 years of his life in the central Oklahoma communities of Mulhall and Edmond. He loved sports and driving through the country and picking up pecans. He spent 41 years farming and ranching as well as 15 years serving the Edmond Public Schools. The final year of his life was spent loving Edmond High School sports in all capacities.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Don Hopfer special memorial fund, c/o Edmond Sports Boosters, Administrative Center, 1001 West Danforth, Edmond OK 73034.
Don was preceded in death by his Grandfather, Christian Hopfer, grandmother, Marie Hopfer, grandfather, Otis Schweitzer, Grandmother, Lizzie Schweitzer, his father, Jake Hopfer, his brother, David Hopfer, and a nephew, David A. Hopfer Jr.
He is survived by his mother, Lou Hopfer, a son, Kelly Hopfer, a daughter, Shelly Allison and her husband Jerry, grandchildren Ashley and Andrew Allison, a sister-in-law, Janie Marrow and her husband Darrell.
