Ralph Tedrow Hood

Born: October 13, 1941
Died: October 29, 2012

Ralph Tedrow Hood, Jr., was called home by the Lord on Monday, October 29, 2012. Ralph passed at his home east of Guthrie with his children by his side. Ralph, better known as “Ted” to his friends, was born to Ralph and Dorothy Hood on October 13, 1941 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the youngest of three siblings. Ralph was a life-long resident of Guthrie, starting his own family here in 1970 with his marriage to his wife Jo Ann. He served our country with distinction in the U.S. Army as a decorated captain following his graduation from the ROTC program at the University of Oklahoma, where he obtained his juris doctorate degree. He had previously earned his bachelor of science degree from Oklahoma A&M University.

Ralph worked for more than 40 years as an attorney in Oklahoma. Early on he served as a District Attorney in Logan County, and then later as a private practitioner in Guthrie. He also served as the Municipal Judge for the City of Guthrie for more than three decades. Ralph was an avid golfer, and a proud father and grandfather.

Ralph is survived by his sister Nancy Robbins, his daughter Sandra Hood, his son David Hood and his wife Tara Hood, and his grandchildren Chloe Hood, Sophia Hood and Tristan Harrison. Ralph is also survived by the beloved children he and his wife Jo Ann helped raise, Ryan and Sarah Rhinehart. He was predeceased by his sister Janice Williams and his wife Jo Ann. Ralph’s family and friends will miss his spirit of public service and loving nature.

Services will be held at the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, 402 East Noble, in Guthrie on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Dennis Clark presiding. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
