Funeral services for Mildred Pearl Holland, 101, of Guthrie, OK will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 6, 2008 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Reverend Bob Walker of Cathedral of the Hills of Edmond, OK officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Mildred was born on February 13, 1907 in De Kalb, MO to William T. and Sarah Jane (Roberts) Hamilton. She died Thursday, October 2, 2008 at her home in Guthrie.
Mildred moved to Oklahoma as a young child in a wagon. She met James Louis Holland in Ravia, OK and were married June 11, 1927 in Tishomingo, OK, and later moved to Guthrie in 1962. From this marriage six children were born: J.L. Holland, Norma Weidner and husband Richard, Peggy Gaston and husband Harlo, Don Holland and wife Virginia, Bob Holland and wife Jackie, and Deb Bozarth and husband Bob. She was also blessed with eleven grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Louis, son J.L., and son-in-law Richard.
At 101 years of age, she was young at heart and always put her children first in life. She took great pride in living in her home to the day of her death. She loved having a nice lawn and beautiful flowers, and also had a love of small animals.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends of the Guthrie Animal Shelter (FOGAS), 104 West Springer, Guthrie, OK 73044.
