Eleanor Mae Hoel was born September 6, 1928 in Lamont, Oklahoma to Vernie and Clara (Naughter) Landis. Eleanor passed away April 3, 2018 in Guthrie, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years.
Eleanor lived in Guthrie most of her life. She graduated from Guthrie High School in 1947 and in November of 1947 she married Herman Wayne Hoel. She worked at Murray's Drug Store and J.C. Penny. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Guthrie and was a member of the WMU. She was also a former Pink Lady at Logan Hospital and delivered Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include her five children, Martin Hoel of Guthrie, Keith Hoel and wife Lisa of Guthrie, Barbara Tooley and husband Albert of Guthrie, Annetta Hailey of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Clara Price of Guthrie and sister Norma Deane Jarnigan of Pittsburg, Texas. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne in 1980, sister Lorene Chappell and brother Lester Landis.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 6, 2018 at the First Southern Baptist Church with Reverend Greg Hudson officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from noon until 7 P.M. and Friday from 9 A.M. until noon.
Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home in Guthrie. Friends and family may sign the online guestbook at Hayes Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made to the First Southern Baptist Church.
