Kathryn Vivian Hirzel of Guthrie, OK passed away July 6, 2010 from the arms of her loving family into the loving arms of her Lord. Kathryn was born August 30, 1911 in Edmond, OK to Amos and Catherine Fraim.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred R. Hirzel, Sr., five sisters, and two brothers, as well as step-son Fred R. Hirzel, Jr.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kathy Walter and husband Kenneth of Guthrie and Linda Smith and husband Ron of Oklahoma City, OK. Her life was blessed with five grandchildren; Kim Hinkle and husband Terry (Guthrie), Kevin Walter (Moore, OK), Tyler Smith and wife Leslie (Edmond), Courtney Bullard and husband Steve (Jenks, OK), and Kristi Blakemore and husband Kyle (Guthrie), as well as five great-grandchildren; Katelyn, Brody, and Hank Hinkle, Ellison Smith, and Francesca Bullard. She is also survived by three step-grandchildren; Jeff Hirzel, Julie Richardson, and Liz Sterkel.
Kathryn loved children and spent 37 years teaching in Deer Creek and Guthrie, with the majority of her years spent in Guthrie. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Guthrie where she taught Sunday school for many years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 9, 2010 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Reverend Steven W. Bullard of Southern Hills Baptist Church, Tulsa, OK officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie. Visitation will be Thursday, 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. "We love you Nana".
