Bobby Lee Hinkle

Born: January 27, 1945
Died: August 02, 2012

Bobby Lee Hinkle, 67, passed away August 2, 2012. He was born January 27, 1945 in Tulsa, OK to Melvina Hinkle-Chambers and Leroy Hinkle.

He graduated from Guthrie High School in the proud class of 1963 and attended Central State University. On April 27, 1965, he married Judy Gerhards in Wichita Falls, TX. Together they started their family in Guthrie, OK raising four children.

Bobby worked in the oil field, owned his own business, and retired from the City of Guthrie. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, and his passion for the game of golf. Through the years he played softball and coached little league baseball and basketball. Bobby was a very active member of the Guthrie Golf and Country Club where he spent many hours playing golf, volunteering, and helping others with the game. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Guthrie. Bobby was a leader in his community helping others fighting addiction and a source of comfort to others fighting cancer. Bobby was very proud of his Cherokee Indian heritage and his beloved Sooners. He will be missed deeply by his family and cherished his friendships.

He is preceded in death by his only brother Kenny Hinkle, father Leroy Hinkle, mother Melvina Hinkle-Chambers, and step-father Alfred Chambers.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Judy of the home; four children Brad Hinkle of Edmond, OK, Kim Spears and husband Mike of Edmond, Terry Hinkle and wife Kim of Guthrie, and Todd Hinkle and wife Elizabeth of Edmond; ten grandchildren Katelyn, Mason, Christian, Brody, Kylie, Hank, Will, Hayden, Sienna, and Cash; and a host of other loved family and friends. OIT.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 6, 2012 at First Christian Church, Guthrie with Chaplain Gene Owen of Companion Hospice officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Visitation will be held Sunday, 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
