Betty Jean (Johnson) Hawkins went to be with the Lord on May 30, 2010. Betty was born February 10, 1936 in Crescent, OK to Fayburn and Hazel (Rich) Johnson. She enjoyed meeting people and making friends, with her warm heart and generous spirit, no one was a stranger for long.
Betty was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Guthrie, the Golden Girls, the Swim Club, and was an officer in the AARP. She enjoyed the fellowship of the Highland Hall Aging Services and the Tuesday night music at the American Legion. She also enjoyed playing Skip-Bo and other games.
Betty married Herman Hawkins on June 22, 1956 in Crescent. They made their home in Guthrie, OK where they raised three children. She is predeceased by her husband Herman Hawkins; parents Fayburn and Hazel Johnson; sister Florene Miller; and brother-in-law John Hawkins.
Survivors left to treasure her memory include her children Diana and Richard Williams, Anna and Dallas Pyron, and Tim and Naida Hawkins; grandson Brian Williams; sister Anna Mary Maker; brothers F.W. and Saralee Johnson and Jerry Johnson; brothers-in-law Bill Miller and Charles and Edra Hawkins; and numerous other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 4, 2010 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Pastor David Nolen officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Visitation will be Thursday from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
