Died: August 09, 2011
Wanda Lee (Davis) Harris, 74, died August 9, 2011, in Crescent, OK. She was born April 4, 1937, in Springfield, MO to Paul and Hattie (Johnson) Davis. At the early age of 3, her father was taken in death. After his passing, the family moved to Guthrie, OK. Wanda was almost 7 when she got her new daddy, Max Dean, whom she loved dearly.
Wanda attended Guthrie schools and graduated in 1955. That same year she married the father of her one daughter and four sons. The family resided in Dardenelle, AR, where she often took her five children fishing at the Arkansas River. The all-day excursions are special memories even now. After the family moved to Atlanta, GA, Wanda found her niche in restaurant management. Back in Guthrie, later in her life, she managed a number of restaurants, including the Territorial House for a number of years. At this time of her life she took up square dancing, where she met and married her partner, Kenneth Harris, in a Square Dance Wedding. They resided at Lake Lottawanna at Crescent, where they both enjoyed many common interests together until his passing. Wanda loved life, enjoying puzzles, playing skipbo, and gardening, but fishing always remained her favorite pleasure.
She is survived by her five children, LaDonna Howard, Edmond, OK, Linden Classen, Johnny Classen, Jeff Classen, all of Atlanta, GA, and Tim Classen of Fairview, OK, twelve grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Wilson of Lucerne Valley, CA and Maxine Busbee of Edmond, OK, one brother, Robert Dean of Guthrie, one brother-in-law, George Montgomery of Cullman, GA, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Paul Davis, her mother Hattie Dean, her stepdad, Max Dean, her husband, Kenneth Harris, her sister, Juanita Montgomery, and one grandson, Jeremy Classen.
