Wilbur Gene Harned, age 92 of Warr Acres, Oklahoma passed away on October 27, 2020 at his home. He was born on June 7, 1928 in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Wilbur Lee and Bessie Pauline (Peterson) Harned.
Wilbur graduated from Guthrie High School in 1946. In 1950 Wilbur married Betty L. Harman in Guthrie. Of this union three children were born: Gena, Lisa, and Eric. Wilbur owned the Ione Hotel in downtown Guthrie for over 15 years. He was involved in many aspects of the Oil and Gas business before retiring. Wilbur was a member of the Guthrie First United Methodist Church. He had a perfect Sunday School attendance record as a child at the Presbyterian Church.
Wilbur's hobbies included aviation, motorcycles, hiking, traveling, and gardening.
Survivors include his daughter Gena Gibson and husband Steven of Warr Acres, son Eric Harned and wife Lorie of Warr Acres, and grandchildren Grant and Dylan Harned of Warr Acres. Wilbur was preceded in death by his wife Betty in 1969, parents Wilbur and Bessie Harned, daughter Lisa Harned, and close friends Tom Bowie and Jackie Richardson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 2, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at the Guthrie First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
Visitation will be on Sunday, November 1, 2020 from 12:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Hayes Funeral Home.
