Funeral services for Walter August Giem 84, of 407 E. Harrison will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday March 21, 1979, in the First Christian Church with the Rev. Dennis Clark officiating . Burial will be in Summit View Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
Giem died Sunday March 18, 1979, at the Golden Age Nursing Home. He was born July 24, 1894 in Castle Rock Colo. He came to Oklahoma with his father and stepmother, sister, brother, two stepbrothers and a stepsister, in 1911. They settled in Mulhall. They later moved to Guthrie.
He was former owner and operator of Giem Hatchery and Feed Store on East Oklahoma in Guthrie. He also worked for the Railway Express for 16 years. He was a long time member of the First Christian Church.
He married Clara S. Jarvis. She and an infant son died on January 23, 1919. On August 28, 1919 he married Lola Jarvis, a sister to Clara.
Survivors are his wife, Lola and son Lloyd, of the home, two daughters, Mrs. A.M. (Lily) Bradley, Indianola, Iowa, Mrs. N.A. (Ruth) Cotner of Grove, eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren.
The family requests memorials are made to the First Christian Church Memorial Fund.
