Funeral services for John Paul Guther, 69, of Guthrie, OK will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Smith Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
John was born on October 17, 1939 in Guthrie to William Christopher and Natalie (Bivert) Guther. He died Sunday, May 17, 2009 in Oklahoma City, OK.
John married Mary Elaine (Van Orden) on February 22, 1980 in Guthrie. He worked as a service technician for Oklahoma Natural Gas for 37 years. He was a member of Community Church, but was unable to attend the last several years, due to his health.
He is survived by his wife Elaine of the home; son Troy Guther and wife Roseta of Coyle, OK; three daughters Tamara Guther-Copass of Guthrie, Brandy Walters and husband Wally of Guthrie, and Jana Cleary and husband Jay of Marlow, OK; and thirteen grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Jill Bock; sister Billie Waddell; and granddaughter Kagan Guther.
Visitation will be held at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home on Wednesday until 5:00 p.m. and Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Boulevard, Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852-9813.
