Ruby Evelyn Geddes

The family of Ruby Evelyn Geddes wishes to express love and gratitude for the many years that the Lord blessed us with her presence. Ruby touched many lives with her constant love, encouragement, inspiration, and her enthusiasm for life. She treated everyone with gentleness and kindness. She passed away, Tuesday, May 27, 2008 in Oklahoma City, OK.
Ruby was born in Sparks, GA on March 28, 1903 and moved to Navina, OK at a very early age. She attended Navina Schools through the 10th grade. Ruby married Earl Geddes on December 23, 1921 and later moved to Guthrie, OK to attend Business College.
Her business career began at the Logan County Treasurer’s Office followed by First State Bank and Cotteral’s Furniture Store as bookkeeper. In 1953, she moved to Oklahoma City where she was employed for Furrow and Company until her retirement in 1965. Ruby loved to garden, work crossword puzzles, and play her organ; however, her greatest joy was being with family and friends.
Ruby is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Earlene and Bob Hart of Moore, OK; two granddaughters, Brenda Sublett of Keller, TX and Sharon Johnson of Oklahoma City; one great-grandson, Brandon Johnson of Oklahoma City; and one sister, Lola Jackson of Guthrie.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her parents, Wesley and Fanny Berg; two brothers, Orval Berg and Ethridge Berg; and two sisters, Olive Berg and Myrtle Chitwood.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to all the caregivers at Rambling Oaks Assisted Living, Meadowlake Estates Nursing Home, and Odyssey Hospice, especially Carri Lowery.
Funeral services will be held at2:00 p.m., Friday, May 30, 2008 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mike DeMoss of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie 405-282-2272.
