Kathryn Christine Gadberry

Born: March 26, 1910
Died: November 09, 2011

Kathryn Christine Howard Gadberry, age 101, went to her Heavenly home on November 9, 2011. She was born March 26, 1910 in Main Prairie, Minnesota to Emma and Jarvis Howard.

Services will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Smith Memorial Chapel in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Kathryn spent her younger years in Minnesota and came to Guthrie in 1930. In 1932, she met and married Charles Christopher Gadberry. Kathryn and Charles had 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Kathryn and Charles spent most of their lives in and around Guthrie, but also lived in various other states and in Canada while Mr. Gadberry worked with Gulf Oil Corporation, retiring in 1955. Kathryn worked for many years at Keep U Neat Laundry, in Guthrie and at the Nuway Laundry and Cleaners in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma before retiring at the age of 83. Kathryn's energy was always directed toward her family and friends and the many animals she loved and cared for over the years. She was an excellent cook and seamstress. Kathryn and her sister once owned and operated a restaurant in Guthrie. Kathryn was known for her kindness, honesty, and strength, both physical and spiritual. Until moving away from Guthrie, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Guthrie. We cannot find words to express our gratitude to God for allowing us to have such a beautiful person in our midst. The world will not shine as bright in her absence.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, 8 siblings, her husband Charles Christopher Gadberry, and her daughter Barbara Ann Gadberry Dunagan.

Survivors include three children Charles Gadberry and wife Beryl, of Yukon, Oklahoma; Robert Gadberry of Ketchum, Oklahoma; and Charlene Vargas of Norman, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. - 1:45 p.m.
