Dale Fryar

Born: April 27, 1938
Died: August 11, 2011

Raymond "Dale" Fryar, 73, passed away peacefully in his home in Guthrie, OK surrounded by his family and friends, after a two year fight with cancer. He was born April 27, 1938 in the Antlers, OK area to Alvin and Elsie (Johnston) Fryar, the third of four children.

Dale learned what his family describes to be an “incredible” work ethic at an early age working on the family’s dairy farm. He graduated from Moore High School in 1958 and began working in the oil field. He worked many years for Lufkin Trailer and eventually retired from the City of Del City working in the street department. Dale worked hard as a farmer and rancher operating Red Earth Ranch in Guthrie with his wife Dianne. Rodeo was a big part of Dale’s life. Competing in his younger years as a bulldogger and calf roper, a leg injury redirected his interest to roping steers with his son, Kraig. He spent hours working with young horses laying the foundation needed for his children and grandchildren to be able to complete in various horse shows and rodeo events.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles E. Fryar, and sister Rebecca Meadors. Dale is survived by his wife, Dianne; daughter Kerri Fryar of Edmond, OK; son Kraig Fryar and his wife Carrie of Guthrie; sister Dorothy Riddle and her husband Bill of Copperas Cove, TX; and grandchildren Sarah Johnson, Lauren Johnson, Dakota Johnson, and Jayce Evans.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 15, 2011 at First United Methodist Church, 224 East Noble Avenue, Guthrie with Pastor Mike DeMoss officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Visitation will be Sunday, 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Monday, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to First United Methodist Church - note building fund - P.O. Box 249, Guthrie, OK 73044.
