George Lee Fowler

Funeral services for George "Murray" Lee Fowler, 86, of Hutchinson, KS will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Smith Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
George was born on February 22, 1924 in Guthrie to Lawrence Charlie and Prudy Matilda (Wileman) Fowler. He passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 in Hutchinson, KS.
George married Dolly Ruth Clymer on March 30, 1945 in Winfield, KS. He served in the U.S. Army, 175th Ordinance during WW II. He retired from J.E. Carlson Pipeline and Plant Construction in July 1982, after 30 years as supervisor. He was a member of Cow Creek Old Time Fiddlers and Pickers Association and Avid Outdoorsman. He was a carpenter, master Southern engineer who had a great sense of humor, and loved and cherished his family.
George is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dolly Ruth Fowler of the home; one son Steven Allen Fowler and wife Lou; two daughters Carol Sue Gisick and husband Tom and Kathy J. McGillivray and husband Guy all of Hutchinson, KS; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister Geneva Clift of Longview, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Charles Edward Fowler; and sister Ruby Lucille Campbell.
Visitation will be held at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home on Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, American Diabetes Association, or American Heart Association.
