Betty Ray Foster died January 3, 2016, in Guthrie, OK at the age of 83 after fighting a long and courageous battle against multiple cancers for over 10 years. She was always a Guthrie Bluejay fan and never missed a game of any of her children or her local granddaughters. Betty had a lifetime Guthrie All-Sports ticket. She was named honorary “Assistant Athletic Director in charge of softball operations” by the then athletic director Gary Boxley. She rode the bus with the team to all out of town games. She was also honored for her battle with cancer by the Guthrie football team by participating in the coin toss for the Pink Week game.
She was a huge OSU Cowboy fan and long term ticket holder. She was also honored by the football and basketball teams and Big 12 Coaches for Cancer.
Betty could always be seen about town and the local restaurants speaking or eating with her many friends of all ages. Betty served as the Territorial Governor for the 2014 Territorial Christmas Celebration in Guthrie. She received the most “votes” during the month long fundraising event for the annual celebration.
