Ruby Ione Fitzpatrick
On July 30, 2017, God called His loving Servant, Ruby Ione (Hopson) Fitzpatrick, home. Her work on earth was done. Ruby was a faithful Servant of God for 96 years, making a positive impact on everyone she met.
Glover Sherman Fitzpatrick, Ruby's husband of 73 years, had been called to his Eternal Home two years prior. Together they had one child, Jimmy Earl Fitzpatrick.
Ruby is survived by her son, Jimmy Earl and wife Marilyn of Midwest City; grandchildren Jeff Fitzpatrick and his wife Janie of Moore, their children, Rylie Cole and Isabeau Fitzpatrick; and granddaughter Megan Martin and her husband, Dan of Peidmont, and their daughter Briana Martin. Also surviving Ruby is her sister, Shirley Mae Watts, and her husband Clarence "Smitty" Watts of Guthrie; and brother Vernon Dale Hopson, and his wife, Joyce Hopson, of Cookson, Oklahoma.
Aunt Ruby is also survived by her nephews, Jerry Hopson and his wife, Pat, of Edmond; Mervin Gross of Lubbock, Texas; Ronnie Hopson and his wife, Carlyse of Crescent; Danny Hopson and his wife, Sandy of Guthrie; Curt Watts and his wife, Sharon of Guthrie; and her nieces, Pamela Watts- Meyer of Guthrie; Janie Fugate of Dallas, Texas; Teresa Hopson of Stigler, and Dana Swanson of Cookson, Oklahoma. Three nephews, Richard Gross, Kenneth Gross, and Jeffrey Hopson, preceded Ruby in death.
In addition to family, Ruby left behind some very dear friends, Frank and Bobbie Greene, who always kept in touch with Ruby, making the trip from San Antonio, Texas every few months just to be with her. Also, Rosser and Donna Eidlebach and Herb Hartgrave, of Texas, were very near and dear to Ruby, never forgetting her birthday and holidays, and conversing with her weekly by phone. Glover and Ruby were faithful and dedicated members of Crutcho Baptist Church in Midwest City.
Everywhere Ruby went everyone she met or talked with, was touched and blessed by her giving spirit and selfless acts of kindness. Even in her room at Golden Age Nursing Home, she was surrounded by nurses and staff who would pop in to visit her, and chat. She always kept candy and treats on hand for anyone who crossed her path. Ruby's love of plants and all things living, gave her such a joy, and she was the unofficial "caretaker" of the many beautiful plants located in the library at Golden Age, which was down the hall from her room. The family wishes to thank the Staff at Mercy Hospital in Guthrie for their kindness, support, and assistance in the administering to our beloved Ruby. Also, we extend our sincere and heartfelt thanks to the staff at Golden Age, Ruby's home for the last five years. All the nurses, aides, workers, and administrative staff were instrumental in ensuring Ruby was comfortable and well-tended to during her residence at the home. In addition, we wish to thank Companion Health Care in the level of comfort and care they provided for Ruby. We could not have done it without the involvement and dedication of those mentioned here.
We will celebrate Ruby's life in a Memorial Service to be held at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home in Guthrie, on August 2, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie. Serving as pallbearers are Jeff Fitzpatrick, Curt Watts, Jerry Hopson, Ronnie Hopson, Dan Martin, and Daniel Hopson. Honorary pallbearer is Mervin Gross. Funeral arrangements are under the directions of Smith-Gallo.
The family requests that any donations made in Ruby's honor be made to Gideons International.
