Glover Sherman Fitzpatrick

On April 10, 2015, God called another Angel home. Glover Sherman Fitzpatrick, born on October 20, 1924, to Earl Shannon Fitzpatrick and Florence Emma Dobbs, at Tonkawa, Oklahoma, left this earth for his place in God’s Kingdom, at the age of 90.
Glover proudly served his Country in the United States Navy during World War II, from 1942-1945. He was assigned to a landing craft which was hit during the Battle of Iwo Jima. Following his service in the Navy, he worked at Tinker Air Force Base as a civilian employee, and retired after 30 years.
Glover is survived by his wife of 73 years, Ruby (Hopson) Fitzpatrick of Guthrie, Oklahoma. He is also survived by their son, Jimmy Earl Fitzpatrick and wife Marilyn of Midwest City, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Jeffery Fitzpatrick and wife Janie of Moore, Oklahoma and Megan Martin and husband Dan of Piedmont, Oklahoma; and three great-grandchildren, Rylie Cole and Isabeau Fitzpatrick and Briana Martin.
Glover, "Uncle Dodie", is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who will forever miss his humor and love. He also leaves behind many close friends.
Glover was a very devoted Christian, and served for many years as a Deacon at Crutcho Baptist Church in Midwest City, Oklahoma, where he and Ruby were members.
In April 1978, Glover was elected as City Councilman, Ward Five for Oklahoma County.
Glover made a positive impact on everyone he met and he was a true Servant of God. He will be greatly missed and forever loved by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Pastor Rick Belicek officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM
