Lloyd Charles Ferris, Sr., 87 of Guthrie, OK, born on July 17, 1922 in Garnett, KS to James Richard and Elsie (Thomas) Ferris, passed away October 24, 2009. Lloyd is survived by his children L.C. and wife Sheila Ferris and Paul Ferris; stepchildren Laura and husband Juan Morales, Carl and wife Maria Gautreaux, Gene Stephenson, Kathy Eby, and Phil Stephenson; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Kathryn, his parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, daughter Tonna Ogden and 2 grandchildren. Lloyd retired from the U.S. Navy in 1965 after 22 years of service and retired from Gulf Stream on July 31, 1984 after nearly 20 years of supporting Commander customers and working extensively in training. He was responsible for developing many of the classroom training aids, many of which were still in use when he retired. His interests included inventions, scuba diving and bowling.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 29, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Daniel J. Letourneau of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Edmond, OK officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Visitation will be held Wednesday until 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Vigil at Smith Memorial Chapel at 7:00 p.m.
