Rodney Fairl Davison

Born: November 19, 1960
Died: March 18, 2016

Rodney Fairl Davison was born on November 19, 1960 to Karen (Johnson) Davison and Delbert Davison. He grew up in Guthrie and graduated from Guthrie High School in 1979. He grew up hunting and fishing and had a love for anything outdoors. He dedicated his entire life to his family, his country, and his community. He loved and was very proud of his sons, David and Clayton, and enjoyed watching them in all of their activities.

Rodney enlisted in the Army in 1979 in the SVC BTRY 160 FA as a cannon crew member. He attended officer candidate school and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in 1984. In 1988, he was B Battery Commander 160 FA Battalion. During this time he graduated from Air Assault School. After he commanded the B Battery, he served as Battalion Executive Officer and Fire Direction Officer as well as other assignments. He also was ordered to active duty in Honduras in 1990. He was ordered to Active Duty for Operation Enduring Freedom in 2003. In 2005, he was assigned 160 FA Battalion Commander. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2006.

His military awards include Meritorious Service Medal 1 and 2, National Defense Service Medal 1 and 2, Global War on Terrorism Service medal, Armed Forces Service Medal 1, 2 and 3, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Air Assault Badge, and the Oklahoma Long Service Medal as well as numerous other State and Federal Awards.

He retired from the Guthrie Fire Department in January 2013 after more than 25 years with the Department.

In retirement, he spent countless hours taking care of the farm and about 250 head of cattle whom he affectionately referred to as his "girls".

Rodney had several careers but his proudest achievements were his boys, David and Clayton. His Fire Department buddies called him Chief and his military buddies called him Colonel. His wife called him Sweetheart. Most people called him Rodney, but most importantly he was "Dad" to Clayton.

Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Davison and son, David Davison.

Rodney leaves behind his beloved mother, Karen (Johnson) Davison, his son, Clayton Davison and girlfriend Mickala Gorrell, his sister Denisa Davison Graves and husband Darrell and their sons, Bryon Graves, Steven Davison and Chris Davison, his wife, Kimberly (Duck) Davison and stepdaughter McKinzie Quigley of the home, in addition to numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, friends and buddies.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Summit View Cemetery with Chaplain Gene Owen officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM. The casket will not be open at any time.
