Graveside services for Violet May Colibert of Guthrie will be held , Wednesday, June 30th 2010 at 10:00 AM at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie Oklahoma, with her Grandson Brian Johnson officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Violet May Lary was born May 6th 1918 to C.O. and Cora Lary, Southeast of Guthrie. She passed away on June 26th 2010 at the age of 92.
She married Marion Colibert of Guthrie August 4th 1936. They raised two daughters Peggy and Carolyn and were married for 66 years until his passing in 2002. She spent the last 8 years of her life loved and loving her daughters, son-in-laws, 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
She attended Irvin School Southeast of Guthrie before graduating from Guthrie High School in 1936. In the late 40s and early 50s Violet worked in the spring department at Oklahoma Furniture, the Fairmont Creamery making ice cream and cottage cheese, and the Co-Operative Publishing Co. in the bindery.
Violet is survived by her daughter, Peggy and husband Tommy Maker of Guthrie; son-in-law Harvey Johnson of Chickasha; Grand Children Gary and Dama Maker of Guthrie, Brian and Lisa Johnson of Chickasha, Barbara and Manny Doughty of Edmond, and Jason Johnson and Lisa Appeddu of Weatherford.
Violet was preceded in death by her Parents C.O. and Cora Lary; Husband Marion Colibert; Sister Eunice Bland of Oklahoma City; and Daughter Carolyn Johnson of Chickasha.
Visitation for friends and family will be held Tuesday June 29th, 11 AM until 8 PM at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.
