Funeral services for Mrs. Leo "Bennie" Chappell, 83, of Guthrie will be held at First Southern Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, with Rev. David Nolen of First Southern Baptist Church of Guthrie officiating. Burial will be in Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie, directed by Smith Funeral Home in Guthrie.
Bennie was born on Dec. 19, 1915 in Liberal, Kan., to George and Mary Frances Smith. She died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at Golden Age Nursing Home in Guthrie. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Guthrie.
Bennie is survived by her husband, Leo Chappell of the home in Guthrie; one son, Hollie Leo Chappell and wife Mary Lou, of Guthrie; a brother, Paul G. Smith and wife Audrey, of Midwest City, Okla.; a sister, Gaye Hallett and husband Earl, of Guthrie; four grandchildren, Joe Chappell, Jeff Chappell and wife Debbie, Jon Chappell and wife Sharla, Jan Crockett and husband Rusty; and 13 great-grandchildren, Jeffery, Joshua, Britney, Mallory, Jordan, Justin, Corbin, Jaden, Savannah, Landry, Jacob, Callen and Jillian.
Friends may call at Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, until 8 p.m., and Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, until noon.
