James Edward Case

James "Jim" E. Case, 70, of Guthrie, OK was called home January 30, 2013. He was born September 24, 1942 in Guthrie to Bill and Ethel (Cook) Case.
He served in the U.S. Army from March, 1961 until March, 1964; stationed at Ft. Sill in the infantry. After his discharge, he met the love of his life, Karen Lane, in Kansas City, MO, where he worked as a carpenter. They returned to Jim’s hometown of Guthrie in 1971.
In 1977, he went to work as a firefighter in Guthrie; later becoming a National Registered Emergency Medical Technician, an occupation he truly loved. He retired in August, 1986 due to a disability. He was a member of the Guthrie Masonic Lodge #35, Guthrie Eastern Star, the National Rifle Association, and the Oklahoma Rifle Association. He loved fishing and hunting; repairing and cleaning fishing reels and guns for many of Guthrie’s gentlemen. He was a member of the Nazarene Church. He will be greatly missed by his many friends, family, and every pond and lake around.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Charles and Ronnie.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Karen of the home; one daughter, Jennifer, of Oklahoma City, OK; one brother, Richard and wife Janice of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Pauline Whitaker of Guthrie and Mary Casey and husband Timmy of Guthrie as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, February 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie, under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorial & Tribute Processing Center, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, KS 66601-1653.
