Barbara A. Brouchoud
September 23, 1941 - September 23, 2016
Barbara A. Brouchoud, 75, passed peacefully on her birthday into the grace of God at approximately 8 A.M., Friday, 2016, in Guthrie after a long and courageous battle for life.
Barbara was born as the only child to Ralph and Gwen VanZant on September 23, 1941, in Bowie Texas. She moved with her mother to Guthrie as a child and attended Guthrie Public Schools.
In 1967, her son Mark Nottingham was born who was always the light of her life as she was always his light. Barbara retired from Lucent Technologies in 1983.
She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Brouchoud , her parents and two aunts and her mother-in-law Fern Brouchoud.
Barbara is survived by her loving son Mark Nottingham of Guthrie.
Barbara was a very loyal and caring woman. She had a lot of grit and loved each and every dog and cat she considered her babies in life while providing them abundant love and care. She loved her "baby" dogs Tiny, Snorkie and the visits she had with Tilly. She also took care of helpless animals, nursing them back to health.
Barbara had a big heart and helped many friends in need because she cared about people.
She loved gardening and cooking and in her early years was an archery champion winning many tournaments. She lived her life with down-to-earth common sense.
Barbara was a remarkable cook. Each Sunday she would prepare a meal for Mark and his friend James Coburn, who was considered by Barbara as a friend and family member.
Her life was one of devotion to family and the beauty she found in nature.
Barbara requested no memorial service in her name to follow because she didn't want to add to anyone's grief. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
She was generous and unselfish. She made life beautiful and to know Barbara was a gift of love. She liked to laugh.
She now rests in peace with Kenny having fun with him and her departed friends. She will be missed and will always be in the heart of those who loved her. Barbara had a heart that transcended this world.
May she continue to share her gift in eternal life.
