James Edward Bignell

Graveside funeral services for James “Jim” Edward Bignell, 90, of Sun City, AZ will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie, OK with Reverend Robert T. Wood of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Guthrie officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Jim was born on April 22, 1920 in Benton Harbor, MI to James Ross and Helen Cecila (Weeks) Bignell. He passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 in Sun City, AZ.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Kathleen "Micky" (Welch) Bignell of Guthrie.
He is survived by five children Kathleen, Michael, Shane, Marya, and Mark; seven grandchildren Jennifer Bignell Hudson, Bryan Bignell, Jared, Zachary, Aron, Eliot, and Max Bignell; and three great-grandchildren Austin Hudson, Bailey Hudson, and Benjamin Bignell.
Jim was a World War II, U.S. Navy veteran. He practiced architecture in Oklahoma City, OK for 40 years, including the building of the Oil Center (a 12 story office building) and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
He was an avid golfer and loved creating items with his hands. He also loved outdoor activities such as camping and skiing in Colorado.
