Ronald B. Benton, 65, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2011. He was born October 9, 1945 in Guthrie, OK to Stella and Bill Benton.
After graduating from Guthrie High School in 1963, Ron honored his country by serving as an Army Captain with the 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam. He completed two tours of duty, and was awarded many distinguished metals including a Bronze Star for heroism and a Silver Star for gallantry in action before retiring as a Major. While serving in the military for 20 years, he completed his MBA. He then accomplished fulfilling successful careers at EDS and Accenture. He retired and returned to his home state to be with family and friends. He also adopted his beloved dog, “Boomer” (aptly named, to celebrate OU football). He loved to fish, hunt, and play golf; but most of all he enjoyed being with family and friends. His love of God and country drove his heart. He was actively involved in local and national politics. His generous heart, and devotion to family, will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a man of integrity.
He was preceded in death by his son Brett and his parents.
He is survived by his brother Don Benton, sister Kathy Benton Villasenor, daughter-in-law Jessica Brace, one niece, three nephews, two great-nieces, one great-nephew, a Godson, and a host of other family and friends.
