Paul Spurgeon Bench
Born: January 24, 1925
Died: December 29, 2010

Paul S. Bench, 85, died December 29, 2010, at the VA Medical Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with his family by his side. Paul was born January 24, 1925 in Boswell, Oklahoma to Daniel and Katie Bench. Paul served this country as a member of the United States Marine Corps during World War II. Paul spent much of his life in Guthrie, Oklahoma, working 30 years at the Oklahoma Furniture Manufacturing Company. In 1995 Paul married Flora and moved to Stockton, California, where he lived until November, when he moved back to Oklahoma.

Paul is preceded in death by his wife Flora, his parents, fourteen brothers and sisters, two sons Paul S. Bench Jr. of Comanche, Oklahoma, and Edward Wayne Bench of Strawberry, Arizona.

Paul is survived by two sons and their wives, David and Rhonda Bench of Guthrie and James and Donna Bench of Bethany, Oklahoma; one daughter, Patricia Bench of Guthrie; two step-daughters, Donna and husband Ray Gowdy and Deborah Garcia all of Stockton, California; twelve grandchildren, Paul and April Bench, Shane and Shari Bench, Danielle Bench, Boone Bench, Beau Bench, Edward and Brandy Bench, Cameron Fuller, Jami and Jerome’ Fogle, Nicholas and Shana Bench, Dennis Swanson, Torrey and Moya Inestroza, and Taylor Bench; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Autumn, Kaycee, Reecy, Gabriel, Shelby, Austin, Chelsea, Gage, Jacob, Makenna, Gabriella, Joci, and Jace. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 3, 2011 at Summit View Cemetery with Dr. Dennis E. Clark of First Christian Church, Guthrie officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie. Visitation will be Sunday, 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Monday, 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
