Marvellee Nell Anthis
Born: August 23, 1928
Died: April 27, 2014

Marvellee Nell (Marge) Anthis passed away April 27, 2014 at the age of 85. She was born August 23, 1928 to Earl and Iva Shafer in Mulhall, OK. Marge was raised in Mulhall, OK and attended school there.

On November 6, 1946, she married Lloyd W (Bill) Anthis in Cheyenne, Wyoming. They were married for almost 50 years until his death in 1996. To this union was born three children, Darrel, Tim, and Lana. They lived in Enid for 20 years where she was a homemaker and enjoyed things such as attending home extension club and singing with the Enid Women’s Choral group. In 1977, they moved to her present home on the farm north of Guthrie.

She was an active member of Guthrie Christian Church, serving and attending many years. In the last couple of years she has been attending her childhood church home at Mulhall Christian Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bill, parents Earl and Iva Shafer, brother Paul (Buddy) Shafer, sisters Carol Little and Jean Lawyer, and great grand-daughter Alyssa Johnson.

She is survived by her three children: Darrel Anthis and wife Vernie May of Mulhall, Tim Anthis and wife Merleta of Rose Hill, Kansas; and Lana Russell and husband Randy of Guthrie; sisters Gail Spillers and husband Tom and Sharron Wamsley and husband Jerry, both of Guthrie.

She had 10 grand-children: Christine Lute and husband John of Guthrie; Jennifer Waggoner and husband Neil of Guthrie; Michelle Anthis of Perry, OK; Jeremy Anthis and wife Shannon of Andover, KS; Acacia Anthis of Oklahoma City; Sarah Moore of Rose Hill, KS; Ben Anthis and wife Ashley of Olathe, KS; Lindsay Drake and husband Nick of Hastings, NE; Angie Calvert and husband Kevin of Perkins, OK; and Heather Edwards and husband Brad of Oklahoma City; and was blessed with 21 great grand-children, many nieces and nephews and lots of “adopted” family members and friends.

Marge was a great family person and leaves a great legacy. Her family was very important to her and was always involved with everyone’s lives. She was the glue that held our family together. She will be greatly missed.

Services will be held on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Guthrie Christian Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Summit View Cemetery immediately following. A viewing for friends and family will be held Thursday, May 1, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home in Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, Southwest Affiliate, P.O. Box 841125, Dallas, TX 75284-1125 or to the charity of your choice.
