Orlan A. Allison
Born: March 20, 1921
Died: May 17, 2012

Orlan Arch Allison, 91, passed from this life to be with his Lord, his beloved wife, Geraldine, and loved ones on Thursday, May 17, 2012. He was born March 20, 1921 to Charles Arch Allison and Dora Florence (Hatcher) Allison near the Coyle and Perkins areas.

He was married to Geraldine Pegg February 9, 1941 in Guthrie, OK. They lived in Guthrie most of their lives. Two children were born to this union: Carol Lee and Gerald.

Orlan was a veteran of World War II, serving with the 30th Infantry Division during the Battle of the Bulge, Rhineland River Crossing, and Central Europe. He received the Purple Heart for actions during the Battle of the Bulge.

He graduated from Coyle High School in 1939. He owned the Allison Welding Service for many years. Later he was employed at Tinker Field Air Force Base while continuing to operate his welding business. He enjoyed restoring antique automobiles and antique tractors. He was a member of the Friends Chapel Church of Coyle and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

His wife, Geraldine, passed away on April 16, 1991 after 50 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister Thelma Brock, two brothers Everett and Lyle Allison, and one granddaughter Donna Hunter.

Orlan is survived by his daughter Carol Lee Whisenhunt and husband Donnie; son Gerald Allison and wife Peggy; grandchildren Sheila Zoltowski and husband Marvin and Jerry Allison and wife Kerrie; grandson-in-law Russell Hunter; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandsons Coby, Chase, Aiden, and Austin.

Orlan was a resident of Willow Creek Nursing Center, whereas the family would like to give special thanks to the staff and Dr. Todd Krehbiel for the wonderful care they gave to him and also thanks to Companion Hospice staff.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Friends Chapel Church, Coyle with Pastor Merl Kinser officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Visitation will be Monday, 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends Chapel Church, 12212 South Redlands Road, Coyle, OK 73027.
