Glenda Louise Allen, 54, passed away April 12, 2016. She was born October 22, 1961, in Guthrie, Oklahoma, to Raymond Simmons and Denora Briscoe.
After graduating from Guthrie High School in 1979, Glenda met the love of her life, Kendred Allen. Glenda and Kendred were married May 12, 1982, in Guthrie, Oklahoma. She continued her education at the University of Central Oklahoma, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Science majoring in Liberal Arts & Sciences with a minor in Business Administration in 1989. Glenda worked at Langston University for 26 years in the Office of the Registrar, Upward Bound and later, as an Administrative Specialist for the McCabe Honors Program. During her career at Langston University, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1995. Glenda loved cooking, gardening and spending time with her family.
Glenda is preceded in death by her Aunt Nan Fulbright, Aunt Laverne Boston, Aunt Jean Malloy, Uncle Arthur Davis, Mother-in-Law Dorothy Allen, Father-in-Law Alfred Allen, Sr., and nephew Curtis Washington.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Kendred, of the home; two children, son Cory Allen and partner Brandy Todd of Guthrie; daughter Kendra Allen and fiancé Kevin Fraser of Oklahoma City; mother, Denora Briscoe of Guthrie; sister Celestine Davis of Midwest City; sister Bridget Todd of Guthrie; brother Bobby Simmons of Oklahoma City; brother Ricky Simmons of Ft. Worth, TX; brother Albert Simmons of Stillwater; brother Chauncey of Phoenix, AZ; brother Emmitt of Denver, CO; 3 grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Monday, April 18, 2016, at the I.W. Young Auditorium at Langston University, 701 Sammy Davis, Jr. Drive, Langston, Oklahoma with Minister Mark Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 17, 2016, from 11:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M.
