At 3 o'clock Thursday morning, the death angel touched the brow of Mrs. Nels Vandiver and bore home the spirit of one who had been patient and long-suffering.

Miss Elizabeth Decamp was born in Ohio, in August, 1843. She moved to Schuyler County, Illinois with her parents, where in 1863 she was married to Nelson Vandiver. They moved about 25 years ago to Galena, Kansas, just across the line from Missouri, where they lived until May, 1901, when they came to Marshall. Eight children were born to this union, five boys and three girls. The two oldest boys have gone on ahead to the judgment, the three married daughters and two sons living in Carterville, Missouri, the other son, George, making his home with his parents here.

With her when she passed away was her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Mary Walker, Mrs. Agnes Burns and Mrs. Nannie Schultz, and her son George.

Funeral services will be held today at 10 o'clock. Mrs. Vandiver was a good wife, a kind, gentle mother, and in many ways a noble woman.

By this death a home is bereaved, a husband left alone and sons and daughters left without a mother. The only consolation obtainable in an hour like this is from Him who doeth all things well, and who bears even the young ravens when they cry.
