Funeral services for Monty Joe Uselton, 51, of Guthrie will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2003 at the First Christian Church of Guthrie with Gene Owen and Dr. Dennis Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Seward Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
Monty was born Aug. 26, 1951 to Susie Edith Nealey and Willie Franklin Uselton in Oklahoma City. He went home to be with his Lord on April 14, 2003.
He graduated from Guthrie High School in 1969. He served two years in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Specialist 4. Once his tour was complete he went to work in the oil field. He worked for Easton Oil from 1969 to 1981 and managed Crescent Pipe and Supply fo Eason from 1977 to 1981. After leaving Eason Oil in 1981, Monty went to work for Burkhart Petroleum, where he worked until 1994. After 1994, Monty worked as a consultant for numerous oil companies, including Kibtec.
He married Marlene J. Hardy on Nov. 11, 1977 in Guthrie.
Survivors include Marlene, his wife of 25 years; his two sons, Jeremiah Justin and Joshua Cain and Mandy Honea, who he considered a daughter; three brothers, Frank of Edmond, Jack and wife Penny of Edmond and Ken and wife Susan of Edmond; two sisters, Johnnie Bross and husband Tommy of Guthrie and Joyce Carter of Guthrie; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of friends.
Monty was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Darrell Wayne.
Visitation will take place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday.
Memorials may be made to cancer research.
