Merle Clyde Cornforth was born April 9, 1924 in Geronimo, OK to Roy and Minnie Cornforth. He passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018 in Guthrie, OK.
He was the second oldest out of 4 children. Merle attended primary school in Navina, OK, and finished high school through correspondence.
Merle married the love of his life, Maxine Bosserman on October 19, 1942. He graduated from Central State University in Edmond, OK in 1969 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Pathology. Merle and Maxine welcomed their son, Gary to the family on January 27, 1946. Merle continued farming until his retirement in 2008.
Merle is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Minnie, his wife, Maxine, his brothers, Teddy and Orval, and his sister, Clara Mae.
Merle is survived by his son Gary and daughter-in-law, Patricia Cornforth of Guthrie; grandchildren, Aaron and Christine of Largo, FL, Janice and Johnathan of Edmond, OK, Denise Bookout of Guthrie, Faith and Wilson of Mustang, OK; and 16 great-grandchildren and a host of extended friends and family.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 4, 2018 at Seward Road Baptist Church with Pastor Rex Haymaker officiating. Interment was held at Seward Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to Seward Road Baptist Church, 4801 W. Seward Road, Guthrie, OK 73044.
