Stella Alice Ritter was born on March 29, 1917 in Trinidad, CO to Ralph Leon and Gertrude Arlene (Davis) Chapman. She passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Moore Medical Center, Moore, OK.
Alice and her sister, Marjorie, were raised by their grandparents, Ben and Nora Davis, after their mother died on May 27, 1917. They moved to Mulhall, OK in August 1917. She married Charlie Harry Ritter on August 3, 1935 in Guthrie, OK at the home of Reverend and Mrs. W.F. Smith.
Alice worked at Kress Store in Guthrie and ran her own café in Mulhall, OK from 1958-1959. She was a member of the Mulhall United Methodist Church. She was also a past Noble Grand Matron of the Mulhall Rebekah Lodge in 1978, her project during her tenure was the organization and purchase of the street signs in Mulhall.
Alice loved making quilts. She made one for each child, grandchild, and great-grandchild. She also enjoyed embroidery, crossword puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles. She always looked forward to seeing family and friends at gatherings.
Alice is preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandparents, and sister, Marjorie Fitzpatrick.
She is survived by one son Charles B. Ritter and wife Barbara, two daughters Betty Ellen (Ritter) Vick and husband Donald and Norma Jean “Jeannie” (Ritter) Faubush and husband John, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 15, 2010 at Mulhall United Methodist Church with Pastor Adrian Pollard of the United Methodist Church and Reverend James Tucker of First Baptist Church of Mulhall officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery, Mulhall. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Visitation will be Sunday, 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
