Bill Collins
November 08, 1948 - October 30, 2016

William "Bill" Richard Collins, born 11/08/1948, passed from this world into the loving arms of our Lord on 10/30/2016. He was preceded in death by his parents William Heber and Marcine LeVey Collins (Poulter), and sons Dustin Lee and Brandon Scott Collins.

He is survived by his wife Levonn, brother Joe Collins of Sand Springs, son Travis Collins and wife Rachel of Glencoe, daughter Lindsay Collins of Missouri, and grandchildren Kyle Collins of Stillwater, Triston and Demi Hood of Durant, Layla Collins-Murphy of Moore, and Ashlee, Lily, and daughter-in-law Traci Collins of Kansas. Also survived by one uncle, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other loved ones.

While at Oilton High School, he played All-Star football, basketball, and baseball as well as being an active member and president of the FFA organization. After high school he received his Associate’s degree from Connors State College and Bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University in 1971, followed by his Master’s in 1985.

He returned to Oilton School’s to start his teaching career as a 5th grade instructor, elementary coach, and assistant high school coach in everything! Later, Bill became high school principal and social studies teacher while coaching baseball, basketball, and football and also was bus driver and janitor for the school. He remained at Oilton for 18 years, until 1989, with one year at Welch, Oklahoma. He then served as superintendent for Glencoe until 2003. After retiring, he continued to substitute teach because of his love for education and young people.

Bill enjoyed many years of coaching at any level and all sports, but his main passion was football. He was happiest when surrounded by his family, especially following his sons and grandsons in sports from 1978 to 2015. He treasured his time spent at OSU Football games with his wife and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and yard work.

Funeral services for Bill will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Mulhall with Pastor James Tucker officiating. Interment will be held at Roselawn Cemetery following the service. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
