Dee Don Vick

Dee Don Vick
March 30, 1970 - May 13, 2017

Dee Don Vick was born on March 30, 1970, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He was the son of Donald and Betty Vick, Del City, Oklahoma.

He attended Highland Park Elementary and Mid-Del Christian School (now Destiny School), graduating in 1988. He attended Rose State College and the University of Central Oklahoma where he graduated with a Master of Business and Finance degree. He began working at J.G.V.E., Inc. Engineering & Surveying Company out of college where he eventually became president of the company.

He was an Eagle Scout with his father as his scoutmaster. He received numerous awards in Scouting including the Silver Beaver award. He was a strong supporter of scouting and served as a Vice President of the Last Frontier Council.

 He was an active member of the Del City Chambers of Commerce, Midwest City Rotary Clubs and was a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, he is an Honorary Commander of the 965 Air Wing of the AWAC Squadron at Tinker Air Force Base and has served on the Western Heritage Museum board of directors. He was involved in fund raising for the John Wayne Cancer Institute and Rosary Catholic School. He assisted during the annual Western Heritage awards banquet every year. During which time he met and became friends with numerous celebrities from western movies, books, artists. His daughter, Ellen, sponsored the Children's' Book award for the annual banquet at the Western Heritage Museum. He was the past president of the Mid-Del-Tinker 100 Club. His civic projects included the New Del City Police Station Building, the new Del City Public Works Building and the 12 AWAC planes on display along Sooner Road adjacent to the Tinker Gate.

His hobbies included hunting and participating in various target competitions. He collected John Wayne memorabilia. He was a fan of the western genre including movies, history, books, traditions, and values. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends, and was an avid Oklahoma Sooner fan. He attended OU football and OU women's' basketball and softball games.

D. Don is survived by his parents, Donald and Betty Vick, Del City, his wife of eleven years, Tammy (Harrell), and daughter, Ellen, of Midwest City. His sister, Charlotte Cranfill, and husband Hank, of Amarillo, Texas. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
