Joel Andrew Haggard, 64, of Mulhall, OK, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 in Stillwater, OK. He was born February 17, 1953 in Oklahoma City, OK to Julian and Loraine (Taylor) Haggard.

Joel was an avid coon hunter and loved to do yard work. He took great pride in his yard work and was eager to talk to anyone who stopped by when he was outside. Joel helped the town of Mulhall by climbing and changing the light bulb on the old water tower. According to Jeannie, he said he would never do that again. One Christmas, Joel painted scenery for the Christmas pageant for the Baptist Church in Mulhall. Joel served as a Marine for 6 years. He retired from Mercury Marine after 28 years of employment. Joel insisted on being an organ donor.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 older brothers, and 1 older sister.

Joel is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jeannie; sons, Steven and Sumner Haggard; his daughter, Rachel Boggs and her husband, Mike; 3 grandchildren, Dustin Haggard, Stevi Haggard, and Brooke Boggs; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Mulhall First Baptist Church with Pastor James Tucker officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Mulhall. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Arthritis Foundation, Oklahoma City Chapter, 3232 West Britton Road, Suite 200, OKC, OK 73120 or to the Paralyzed Veterans of America
