Evelyn Louise Davis
(October 26, 1921 - December 21, 2013)
Evelyn Louise Davis, resident of Lovell, passed away December 21, 2013 at the age of 92.
Evelyn was born on October 26, 1921 in Seward, Oklahoma to the parents of Harold and Minnie Sartain. Her family moved to Lovell in 1937. Evelyn graduated from Marshall High School with the class of 1939. At the age of 17, she met the love of her life, George Oliver Davis. They married on September 7, 1943 and lived the rest of their days on their farm in Lovell. She worked hard at many jobs while George was overseas serving in the Army. She and George were happiest when spending time with family, driving around their quiet farm and spending vacations in Branson, MO. She was an indescribable influence and role model to so many people. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker. She loved to sew, making clothes for her daughters throughout their lives including all the dresses worn in Glenda's wedding. She loved being crafty, always making bows, bouquets and many other things. She touched so many lives and leaves behind countless memories with those who loved her.
Evelyn was deeply involved in the Democratic Woman's Club of Oklahoma. She was awarded Outstanding Democrat Woman for the state of Oklahoma. She was inducted into the Democratic Woman Hall of Fame and served as the State Convention Chairman for the state of Oklahoma.
She is survived by daughters Glenda Sue Shafer and her husband Roy of Ponca City, and Linda Jean Beard and husband Richard of Oklahoma City; She is also survived by four grandchildren; Brian Shafer and wife Kimber of Cashion, OK; Stacy Hillhouse and husband Clay of Austin, TX; Travis Boxley and wife Heather of Helena, MO, and Jim Gorre of Enid, OK; as well as 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Minnie Sartain; husband, George O. Davis; sisters Harolyn Field and Madilyn Carter; brother George L. Sartain and grandson, Kelly Gorre.
Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 27, 2013 at the Oakview Cemetery with Gene Owen officiating. Services are under the direction of Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home in Crescent.
