Betty Lea Ransford
(January 6, 1924 - January 1, 2013)
Betty Lea Ransford was born January 6, 1924 in Bowie, Texas to Albert and Artenia (LaRue) Crick. She passed away January 1, 2012 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 88 years.
Betty moved to Oklahoma as a small child and attended school in Crescent. On June 30, 1941 she married John "Bud" Ransford in Kingfisher, Oklahoma and made their home in the Crescent area. Betty was a founding member of the Circle 12 Quilt Club, which began at the Star School House in the 1940’s. She also enjoyed liquid embroidery, sewing, and making clothes for her family and friends. Betty made many blankets and sent them over seas to the troops, saying "the military doesn’t keep them warm enough." She worked at the Election Polls and was very active in Republican Politics.
Survivors include her son Harold of Crescent; one sister, Martha Jean Rowe of Guthrie; eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sons, Norman and Steven Ransford.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Crosspointe Church in Crescent with Pastor Robert Stuart and Pastor Mark LeMarr officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland – Knowles Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home in Crescent.
