Dorothy May Packard

ENID - The funeral service for Dorothy May Packard, 73 year-old Enid resident, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Dave Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Knowles Cemetery , Crescent , Okla. Service is under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Dorothy was born Nov. 24, 1936, to Rolland and Pearl (Kelly) Swanson in Carrier, Okla., and went to Heaven Friday, Jan. 29, 2010.

She gave up school at an early age to take care of her mother and later took care of her sister. She worked hard her entire life with much of it being spent in the retail business. Dorothy had two children, Daniel Julian and Mary Ellen Peterson. Later, on March 11, 1967, she married Ernest Packard and they had a daughter, Marie Landwehr. He preceded her in death in 1990.

In 1999, she moved back to Enid. She was selfless, sacrificed so much for others and was the guiding light of her family.

She was preceded in death by parents and brothers, Clarence and Wilbur Swanson.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Daniel Julian and wife Rhonda of Enid, Mary Ellen Peterson of Dallas, Texas, and Marie Landwehr and fiancée Kevin Carmichael of Enid; grandchildren, Amanda and Ashley Landwehr, of which Dorothy helped Marie raise, of Enid, Fontaine Crouch of Enid, Jiles and Isaac Julian of Enid, Scott Carmichael of Bartlesville and T.J. Carmichael of Mustang; great-grandchildren, Cierra, Kaylyn and Melia; as well as brothers, Glen Swanson and wife Tommye of Enid and Johnny Swanson and wife Treva of Hillsdale; and sister, Ellen Willson and husband Tom of Enid.

Memorials can be made in Dorothy's name through the funeral home.
