Funeral services for Ellen Louise Heird, age 80, of Mulvane, KS were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Gene Owen of Companion Hospice officiating. Burial followed at Oakland Knowles Cemetery, Crescent, OK. Services were under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie, OK.
Ellen was born on June 16, 1927 in Oklahoma City, OK to Jim and Alpha (Woodruff) Rose. She died February 15, 2008 at Golden Living Nursing Center in Wellington, KS.
Ellen loved to read, play bingo, and spending time with her grandchildren. Even though she complained often, she also greatly enjoyed the family reunions.
She is survived by six sons Billy James Heird and wife Janie of Kansas, Nolan G. Heird of Guthrie, Olen Dean Heird and wife Linda of Guthrie, Thomas N. Heird and wife Janice of Kansas, Robert Wayne Heird of Yukon, OK, and Randy Earl Heird and wife Billie of Kansas, two daughters Judy Ann Strout and husband Roy and Claudia Faye Hernandez and husband Mike both of Kansas one brother Junior Rose of Oklahoma, one sister Melverda Thomas and husband Arnell of Kansas, twenty-three of grandchildren, and forty-two great-grandchildren.
Ellen is preceded in death by her husband Billy in 1995, one daughter Linda Marie Maker, three sisters, six brothers, and three great-grandchildren.
