Darrell Eugene Gregory
(June 25, 1938 - August 2, 2011)
Darrell Eugene Gregory was born June 25, 1938 in Drummond, OK to Ed and Eva (Webb) Gregory. He was called home to be with his Lord on August 2, 2011 at his home in Crescent at the age of 73.
Darrell attended elementary school in Drummond. His family moved to Braman, OK in 1948 and then to Crescent in 1950. He was very active in Crescent High School activities which included Star Farmer in FFA; FFA president; Class President and football captain.
He met and married Joyce Clark while in high school in 1957. His first love was farming, however, he was also a talented finish carpenter. Darrell and Joyce made their first home in Braman, after graduation from high school. He moved his growing family back to Crescent in 1965 where he farmed until his death. Darrell enjoyed watching things grow. He loved working with his grapes, with his flowers and plants and in his garden. He also loved working with all his cattle, bottle feeding many of them. He was a member of Crosspointe Church in Crescent.
Survivors include his wife Joyce of the home; mother, Eva Gregory of Crescent; daughter, Tonya Lacy of Leesburg, FL; two sons, Mark and Terri Gregory of Newkirk, OK and Darren and Olga Gregory of Haymarket, VA; sister, Kay and Gerald Whitfield of Crescent and three brothers, Jerry and Mary Gregory of Greenville, TX, Eddie Ray Gregory of Crescent and Dick and Danielle Gregory of Kansas City, MO. He counted his 13 grandchildren as his blessings and was patiently waiting on his first great grandchild. Grandchildren are Jessica and Jonathan Lacy; Jonathan, Devon, Alyssa, Matthew and Faith Gregory and Katie, Erika, Keegan, Jarren and Michael Gregory. He was preceded in death by his father, Ed and his grandson Adam.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 5, 2011 at Crosspointe Church with Pastor Mark LeMarr officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland-Knowles Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home in Crescent. In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made in Darrell’s memory to Crosspointe Church.
