Carl Wayne Dickerson
(July 26, 1920 - August 4, 2007)
Carl Wayne Dickerson died August 4, 2007 at his home in Crescent, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years and 10 days. He was born July 26, 1920 in Garber, Oklahoma to William O. “Bill” and Cecil (Taylor) Dickerson. In 1949 he married Anna Mary Travis, she preceded him in death on February 24, 1991. Carl moved back to Crescent in the 1950’s to live on the family farm, he moved to his house in town in 1967. He served his country in WWII in the U.S. Navy aboard The Henry Allen ship. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the VFW.
Survivors include, two sons, Dean Dickerson of Crescent and Don Dickerson of Ponca City; Companion, Patty Turner of Crescent; one brother, Gene Dickerson of Stillwater; two sisters, Irene Hughes of California and Millie Weaver of Guthrie; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Anna Mary; one daughter, Shelia Johnson; three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Biswell officiating, burial will follow at the Oakland - Knowles Cemetery under the direction of Abernathy - Aaron Funeral Home in Crescent. Viewing will be 8:30 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial be sent to the V.A. Hospital in Oklahoma City. Condolences may be sent to the family at abernathyaaron.com
