Maudie Lea Cook
(March 5, 1932 - December 20, 2010)
Maudie Lea Cook was born March 5, 1932 in Crescent to James Francis and Mary Alta (Green) Wolf. She went home on December 20, 2010 at the age of 78 years.
Maudie married Elijah Fransic "Buster" Cook on October 22, 1949. They made Crescent their lifelong place of residence where they raised five children; which was the calling upon her life. She helped Buster to support their family by working various jobs around town until she became a business owner in 1986. During Maudie’s years of employment many knew and loved her as "Aunt Maudie", "Granny" or even "Mom". She always had time to help out where she was able. Her hobbies were drinking coffee with family and friends, and of course the family getting together so she could cook for them. She never grew tired of good laugh with good company. In her later years Maudie grew to love traveling and had the opportunity to see many places in the world with friends and family. Her only disappointment was that her sister did not go with her to see the Holy Land!
Maudie is survived by four children, Harold Cook of Crescent; Dianne Smith of Guthrie; Anita Whorton of Taft, and Chester Cook of Guthrie; 10 Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren with one on the way; Siblings, Myrtle Cook, Mae Aufleger, Martha Schutkesting, James Wolf, and Aubrey Wolf; nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and outlaws too numerous to mention.
Maudie was met in heaven by her parents, her husband Buster, her son Larry and infant son Milton Francis, and siblings Nannie, Ray, Bill, John, Lucy, and Chester.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 23, 2010 at the Crescent Assembly of God Church with Pastor Mark LeMarr officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland-Knowles Cemetery in Crescent. Services are under the direction of Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home in Crescent.
