Graveside services for John Wayne Branson, 68, of Waukomis will be Friday, May 6, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in Oakland-Knowles Cemetery, Crescent, Oklahoma, with Pastor Dave Jones officiating. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, 6:00-7:00 p.m., at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
John was born on August 10, 1953, in Crescent, Oklahoma, to Cloyd Wayne and Ruby Lee (Casteel) Branson and passed away on April 30, 2022, in Enid with his family by his side.
He grew up in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School. On August 21, 1976, John married Barbara Nida, and they made their first home in Perry. They later moved to the family farm near Covington. He enjoyed raising Longhorn and Hereford cattle and going to the lake with family and friends. John was the owner and operator of John Branson Construction Company. He built commercial properties and homes. He later worked as a job superintendent for CMS Willowbrook. In 2016, he retired, and John and Barbara traveled in their motorhome before settling in Waukomis in 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Butch.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Cloyd Wayne Branson, Melissa Ann (Todd) Brown, and Amanda Lee (Rob Farris) Branson; 5 grandchildren, Spencer, Tucker, Ruby, Max and Todd Jr.; brothers, Jim, Jay (Valerie) and Joe )Rhonda) Branson; sisters, Sis (Dale) Malaska, Sue (Jerald) Wyssman, Ruth (Rob) Hamilton; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
