Mary Lawler
January 14th, 1921 - May 8th, 2015
Mary (Rayson) Lawler, 94, completed her earthly education, earning the highest award, her Heavenly Crown on May 8, 2015 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, May 13th at Strode Funeral Home, Stillwater. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 14 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel, Stillwater. Interment will follow at Morris Heights Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Born in her grandmother’s home in Mulhall, Oklahoma, Mary was the 3rd child of Ralph and Lena Rayson. She attended Mulhall schools and was a graduating Senior of Mulhall High.
She married Rex T. Lawler on June 28, 1943 in Stillwater. Together they owned and operated the Tumbling L Ranch west of Stillwater. She worked alongside her husband farming and raising cattle and horses.
After she had raised their two children, Mary returned to working outside the home. She was a long time employee of C.R. Anthony, being the oldest and longest employee of the company at the time of her retirement.
She was a charter member of the Women’s Polled Hereford Auxiliary and a founding member of the Southern Heights Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. Mary was a loyal member of Lakeview Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rex, her parents, three sisters, a brother, and a great granddaughter.
She is survived by her daughter Sheila and husband Thomas Nelson of Georgia and their children: Donnicca Wilson, Brandon Nelson and wife Jennifer, Rick Nelson and wife Missy, Dylan Nelson, Sabrina and husband Jon Kelley, Ashley, Shannon, and Summer Nelson; her son, John Lawler and wife Karen of Stillwater and their children: Karla and husband Patrick Selman; Kyle Lawler and wife Cory; Jarren Lawler and wife Rachael; Nine Great-grandchildren; sister, Christine Kindschi of Perry; sister-in-law, Muriel Rayson of Ottawa Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to Westhaven Nursing Home and Judith Karman Hospice for the care provided.
