Wilma Jean Sexton

Born: November 12, 1941
Died: February 27, 2012

Wilma Jean Sexton, 70, passed away February 27, 2012. She was born November 12, 1941 to Alfred and Allie Mae Elston, west of Guthrie, OK.

Wilma was raised on a farm east of Crescent, OK. She attended and graduated from Crescent High School. Wilma married Joe Sexton and they raised their four children in Guthrie. Wilma worked for Guthrie Public Schools Food Service for 19 years as the Cafeteria Manager at Cotteral School. Wilma took great pride in her family and making her house a home. She loved to take pictures and show them off to family and friends. Wilma was a great friend to many in the Guthrie area, where she regularly visited the nursing homes and hospital just to visit and pass along a smile.

Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, brother Delbert Elston, sister Wanda Thomason, and one grandson.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Joe Sexton of the home; four children, Donald Sexton and wife Tiffany of Oklahoma City, OK, Kathy Clark and husband Joe of Oklahoma City, Sandie Sherrill and husband Ray of Denver, CO, and Rick Sexton and wife Dyanna of Kingfisher, OK; 17 grandchildren, Shelby Sexton, Taylor Sexton, Micah and Joey Evans, Amber and Dustin Stephens, Cerrie Little, DJ Sexton, Dillon Sexton, Candice Sexton, Drake Sexton, Sandy Clark, Brian and Bridget Clark, Jennifer Sherrill, and Jessica and Lucas Gooder; and 13 great-grandchildren, Colton, Chloe, Alec, Logan, Lillyann, Angel, Brianna, Blayton, Alyssa, Kyden, Aiden, Blake, and Brayton. Wilma is also survived by her brother Stanley Elston and wife Francis of Guthrie; sister Linda Sebring and husband Ted of Stillwater, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2012 at Noble Avenue Baptist Church, Guthrie with Dr. Larry Stevens officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
