Funeral services for Charles Pata, 84, of Guthrie are pending with Davis Funeral Home. He died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at St. Anthonys Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Funeral services for Charles S. Pata, 84, of Guthrie, Okla., will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Bible Baptist Church of Guthrie. Services will be officiated by Bro. Robby Robbins of Bible Baptist Church under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Guthrie. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery in Guthrie.
Charles was born Nov. 4, 1915 in Jet, Okla., to Rudolf and Maytilda (Kucera) Pata. He died Nov. 12, 1999, at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Charles grew up and farmed in the Marshall, Okla. area. He was a veteran of WWII where he was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He spent three years in Europe. He was the recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star. Charles previously worked at Tinker Air Force Base, then he worked for St. Anthony's Hospital as the Chief Maintenance Mechanic for over twenty years. He retired in 1978. Charles moved to Guthrie in 1980. He was a member of the IOOF Lodge #10, the Disabled American Veterans #39, of Midwest City, and Guthrie Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4578. He was a charter member of the #1 Oklahoma Polka Club in Enid, Okla.
He married Laura Lee Michaels on April 11, 1964 in El Reno, Okla. She preceded him in death in 1987. He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Charles is survived by his very special companion, Ethel; one daughter, Lillian Brawner and husband Orville; two sons, Charles L. "Butch" Pata and wife Patricia Ann, Gary Allen Pata and wife Susan Ann; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
